Effective November 21, 2016, the Drug Plan and Extended Benefits Branch (DPEBB) implemented enhancements
to the current DPEBB claims system to ensure appropriate billing of medical supplies and Professional Services
Fees for Long Term Care residents.

Correction of Step 2 in the Influenza Immunization Fee (IIF) Billing Procedure
It has come to the attention of the Drug Plan and Extended Benefits Branch (DPEBB) that there was an error in DPEBB Pharmacy Information Bulletin #621 with regards to Step 2 when a claim is submitted by a pharmacy for the Influenza Immunization Fee (IIF). The $13.00 IIF should be entered as the acquisition cost, rather than the dispensing fee.

Additional Supplies

Published July 3, 2015

As a result of evacuations due to forest fires in Saskatchewan, Drug Plan and Extended Benefits Branch (DPEBB) has received requests for individuals who need to obtain an additional month supply of prescriptions or medical supplies. In some cases, the additional month exceeds the approved quantities or exceeds the standard "HC" rule (3 prescriptions in a 45 day period).

Pharmacists and suppliers may contact the DPEBB at 1-800-667-7581 or 306-787-3317 to request a quantity-days supply exception for a one- month supply at the existing deductible and/or copayment, for affected individuals during this period.

Effective July 1, 2015, Eylea (aflibercept), a new anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) product will receive Exception Drug Status listing status. Criteria for Eylea will include the following: age-related macular edema, diabetic macular edema (DME) and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).

Effective July 1, 2015, Lucentis (ranibizumab) criteria will expand to include age-related macular edema, diabetic macular edema (DME), retinal vein occlusion (RVO), as well as choroidal neovascularization (CNV).The following bulletin provides information regarding the approval and payment process for Lucentis and Eylea.
